Terms of service

By using Octopin you agree to these terms. They're written in plain English on purpose.

What's allowed

• Upload content you own or have rights to distribute (NFT art, project assets, metadata, etc.)
• Use the gateway URLs in your contracts, marketing, websites
• Build on top of our API (within rate limits)

What isn't allowed

• CSAM (we report to NCMEC and ban immediately)
• Content that infringes someone else's copyright (we honor valid DMCA takedowns)
• Malware, phishing kits, or other content designed to harm users
• Sustained illegal activity
• Attempts to abuse the free tier (sockpuppet accounts, etc.)

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these rules.

Service availability

We aim for high uptime but don't offer an SLA on Free / Hobby / Project tiers. Enterprise plans can include SLA terms — contact us.

Bandwidth and fair use

Paid plans include unlimited gateway bandwidth for normal use: serving your files to your users, apps and marketplaces. Free accounts get fair-use bandwidth for trying Octopin out. We may throttle or block traffic patterns that look like abuse (scraping, hot-linking from unrelated sites, using the gateway as a general CDN) and will contact you first where we can. Limits for free accounts may change; we announce changes before they apply.

Billing

Paid plans are billed monthly via Stripe. Cancel anytime via the Customer Portal. When you cancel, your plan reverts to Free at the end of the current billing cycle.

Refunds: case-by-case within 7 days of payment. Email support@octopeeps.com.

Liability

Octopin is provided "as-is" without warranty. We're a small team on Cloudflare and Hetzner — we can't guarantee 100% uptime or that the IPFS network will forever resolve your CIDs. Pin your important content in multiple places.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes get an email notice 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

Disputes are governed by the law of the operator's jurisdiction. We'd much rather resolve issues over a quick email than in court.
